Do memories of your past confine you or act as a catalyst…or both?
This beloved play by the bard of New Orleans tells the story of the Wingfield family as remembered many years later by son, Tom. Set during the Great Depression, the largely autobiographical play by Tennessee Williams asks the question of whether life is best lived for one’s family or oneself, as Tom, ever the outsider, struggles between the pull of obligations he feels towards his mother, Amanda, and sister, Laura, and the strong urge to leave them all behind and start over. The Glass Menagerie is the most revived Broadway play of all time, and for good reason. It is the definition of an American classic.
