June 10, 2025 | News

Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré is excited for our summer 2025 education program workshops! Along with the Student Matinee Series that provides complimentary tickets to Le Petit productions to schools without access in the Greater New Orleans area, the Young Conservatory and Workforce Development Program are expanding options for interested students to train in all aspects of theatre arts.

“Educating young people has been central to Le Petit’s mission for over 100 years. We are thrilled to continue this long tradition of involving students in creating theatre and developing the next generation of live theatre performers, technicians, and connoisseurs.”
– Don-Scott Cooper, Producing Executive Director

About Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré: Located in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans, Le Petit Theatre, a 501(c)3 organization, serves our community by inspiring a love of live theater. We present the highest quality theatrical performances to entertain and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the vitality of the arts community. For more information, visit LePetitTheatre.com.

Le Petit Theatre embraces the work of the city’s professional artists both onstage and backstage, all while nurturing and mentoring up-and-coming talent with its array of outreach programs. Under the leadership of Producing Executive Director Don-Scott Cooper, Artistic Director A.J. Allegra, and a Board of Governors, Le Petit Theatre has played an important role in our nation’s and city’s theatrical history since 1916.

We believe there is no greater joy than watching a child have their first theatrical experience. By introducing children to theatre at an early age, we help them to develop critical thinking skills, increase their overall school performance, and help them develop into sentient and empathetic adults.

Le Petit Theatre has a long tradition of welcoming children through its doors dating back through most of its 108-year history, and in our 24/25 season, we are reaffirming our commitment to education. Not only will we grow our student matinee program to bring more students without access to theatre through our doors, but we will commit to having young people onstage, backstage, and fully integrated into the artistic process.

Le Petit Theatre’s Education Program is supported by a grant from the New Orleans Theatre Association (NOTA), the Favrot-Van Horn Fund, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, the New Orleans Recreation and Culture Fund, the Rosemary B. and Brunswick G. Deutsch Foundation, the Ella West Freeman Foundation, and Entergy New Orleans.
