Notes & Cues - BLOG UPDATE - This past week marked my official start as executive director of Le Petit Theatre. I have been volunteering in the position for many months now, working closely with the board of governors, a dedicated and talented group of volunteers. We are all so delighted to finally get started on our first production, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” which opens on July 19th. The theatre has come so very far in the past year. Now that our debt and maintenance issues have been resolved, we are ready to get back to the business of theatre. And what better way to do that than with a production that will highlight the talents of our local actresses? As our “lagniappe” production, prior to the start of our regular season, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” is an enormously entertaining piece that will allow us to “cut our teeth” (so to speak) in our new space. Director Carl Walker has spent countless hours auditioning the cast and we will have an exciting announcement soon. The box office is open at the theatre or you can purchase your tickets at www.lepetittheatre.com . “Love, Loss and What I Wore” has something for everyone because, let’s face it, both men and women make choices every day about the clothes they wear. It’s a choice that says a lot about each of us and none of us is immune to the occasional wardrobe malfunction and the often humorous stories that ensue. Loss and What I Wore teaches us that, in the midst of some of life’s treacherous obstacles, everything we do has meaning, even the simplest of daily rituals. For example, today I chose to wear my mother’s chain gold belt, circa 1970, to accent my dress. She was quite a fashion plate in those days and it brings back such good memories, I treasure it dearly. All that from a simple belt. What clothes do you adore? Or on the flip side, abhor?
