HAIR Raising Fund Raiser:  Teaming up with the St. Baldrick's Foundation for pediatric cancer research.
Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre's production of HAIR takes the stage in November and the focus is both musical and medical. The local community theatre has partnered with the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise funds for childhood cancer research.  Local St. Baldrick’s voluneers from the Tulane School of Medicine and Finn McCool’s Irish Pub are assisting the theatre with its first St. Baldrick’s fundraiser.
The event will take place on Friday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. An event page has been created to collect pledges for the evening fundraiser. HAIR Director Troy Poplous has volunteered to shave his head during intermission in the Le Petit courtyard as a bold way to stand in solidarity with kids with cancer and raise funds for lifesaving research. Troy R. Poplous will direct a cast of 25 actors which will be accompanied by a six piece orchestra directed by Robert Pate. HAIR tells the story of a group of politically active, long-haired hippies opposed to the draft during the Vietnam War.  Among the cast members are local actors Kirk Gagnon, Jake Loup, Matthew Thompson, Kyle Aucoin, Sarah Carlton, Courtney Kattengell, Idella Johnson and  Aaron Lind.  Audiences will find themselves singing along to hits like Hair, Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In, Good Morning Starshine, Easy to Be Hard, and many more.
Eleven shows of the popular rock musical will run from November 8 - 23 at Le Petit Theatre.
