THE SHOWS WILL GO ON: LE PETIT THEATRE ANNOUNCES DATES OF 2013-14 SEASON AND BOX OFFICE HOURS
Season subscriptions and single tickets for Love, Loss & What I Wore July 19- 28, available June 1
May 28, 2013, New Orleans, LA –The Board of Governors of Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré announced the dates for its highly anticipated season as well as the hours of operation for the theatre’s box office. Le Petit will produce a total of six plays beginning July 19 with the “lagniappe” production of Love, Loss and What I Wore. The production is a prelude to the theatre’s seasonal lineup of five plays which run through mid-2014.
Director Carl Walker will direct five local actresses in the poignant Love, Loss and What I Wore written by Nora Ephron and her sister Delia, based on the best-seller by Ilene Beckerman. The preseason production will allow theatre personnel to acclimate to the newly renovated theatre before its busy regular season, which will debut on September 5 with Lombardi, followed by Hair in November, Golda’s Balcony in late January, Death of a Salesman in May andJoseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in July. The theatre’s website and box open will be selling tickets to the public beginning Saturday, June 1. The box office will remain open during the hours of 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays. Season subscriptions will go on sale at that time along with single ticket sales for Love, Loss and What I Wore.Ticket prices range from $10-$50 and may also be purchased online at http://www.lepetittheatre.com/ . 2013 - 2014 Season
September 5-21: LOMBARDI by Eric Simonson, based on the book “When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi” by Pulitzer Prize -winning author David Maraniss. A cub reporter is assigned to do a story on legendary Green Bay Packer’s coach Vince Lombardi. He is quickly immersed into the very real life of Lombardi, the man – on the football field and even in his living room – revealing the passion, the drive, and the unique ability of this powerful figure to push those around him to strive for perfection.
November 8-23: HAIR by Gerome Ragni, James Rado, and Galt MacDermot. Called the “Ultimate American Rock Musical” by New York Times critic Ben Brantley, HAIR is the electrifying musical of teenagers in the 1960s searching for truth, love, and peace during the time of the Vietnam War. With show stopping hits such as Aquarius / Let the Sun Shine In, Good Morning Starshine and Easy to Be Hard.
January 24 – February 8, 2014: GOLDA’S BALCONY by William Gibson. The rise of Golda Meir from an impoverished Russian schoolgirl to Prime Minister of Israel is one of the most amazing stories of our time. Now her life has been transformed into a play of overwhelming power and inspirational triumph.
May 9 – 24, 2014: DEATH OF A SALESMAN Arthur Miller’s masterpiece is a thrilling work of deep and revealing beauty that is considered one of the greatest American plays ever written.
July 11-26, 2014: JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT by Andrew Lloyd Weber. One of the most beloved musicals of all time, this Bible story set to music is fun for the entire family. Based on the tale of Jacob’s son Joseph, Dreamcoat was nominated for 8 Tony Awards in its original Broadway run.
